My mother would take me, as a young girl, to the Old Market district in downtown Omaha for pottery classes, art, and other cultural experiences. Along the way, I discovered a glimpse into my world… the plant store on the corner. I could smell the earthy aroma as soon as I hit the doorway and I wanted to linger all night. I knew then at age 10 that I was in my element.
I started collecting plants in my room at home and later at 15 started my first job at a flower shop in a department store called Brandeis. I would talk about my dream of owning a plant store, and the owner told me I should own a flower shop instead because plant stores were fads. He said people always needed flowers in their lives. After all, every occasion we celebrate somehow involves flowers; births, deaths, weddings, birthdays, etc. The circle of life would keep my business going.
I found out later in my years that not everyone knows what they want to do with their lives at age 15, but I pursued my dream ferverantly getting my Floriculture Degree from Kansas State University earned by way of a golf scholarship; and my Business Management Degree from the University of Nebraska at Omaha while working in various flower shops along the way. At age 23, a year out of college, I heeded my old boss’s advice and gave up my dream of owning a plant store and bought a flower shop instead! I was offered an opportunity to buy my first flower shop inside the Younkers Department Store. Little did I know that a lot of passion and perseverance would keep my business growing and evolving, continuing to be an endless source of joy. Twenty-five years later my business has evolved into what is now Beyond the Vine at our new location in Omaha, Nebraska at 130
th and West Center Road.
The 4000 square foot showroom is worth a visit. It is guaranteed to delight all of your senses as every detail was carefully thought out to bring you these necessary indulgences to feather your nest! I personally invite you to bring a friend and stop by for an experience worth repeating.

Additionally, our retail showroom in Omaha, Nebraska abounds with affordable home décor accents including furniture pieces, framed wall art, candles, lamps, chenille throws, rugs, pillows, garden statuary and much more.
We are also a full service fresh floral shop servicing the greater Omaha area. We deliver flowers seven days a week and would be happy to help you with any of your fresh flower needs including birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, parties and sympathy tributes. We cater to corporate events.
